Electrical and Switchboard Upgrades

Modern electric homes ask more of old switchboards. Our licensed electricians upgrade boards, add circuits and get your home ready for solar, a battery, an EV charger or a heat pump, safely and to code.

When You Need an Upgrade

Common signs are an old ceramic-fuse or crowded board, frequent tripping, no spare circuits, or a plan to add solar, a battery, an EV charger or a heat pump. A site check tells you what is required, and sometimes the answer is that nothing needs to change.

We would rather tell you that than sell an upgrade you do not need.

What We Do

These jobs support the systems we install: solar and battery storage, EV chargers, heat pumps and air conditioning.

03

Backup Wiring: What Is Realistic

If you want a battery to power some circuits in a blackout, the switchboard has to be arranged for it. We move the circuits you most want kept on, such as the fridge, lights, internet and a few power points, onto a backup board.

How much can run at once depends on the battery's inverter output, and how long it runs depends on battery capacity. We explain the limits for your home before you buy. Ask us about this at the assessment, or read the backup section on the solar and battery page.

Questions

Common Questions

01Do I Need a New Switchboard for Solar?
Not always. Many boards can take a solar system after a safety check. Old or crowded boards usually need work first.
02What Does a Switchboard Upgrade Involve?
It depends on the size of the board and the work. We give a clear written quote after a site check.
03How Long Does It Take?
Most upgrades take a day, and the power is off for part of it.
04Will My Power Go Off?
Yes, for part of the day while the board is swapped. We tell you the window before we start.
