What Every Frostac Package Includes

  • Solar panels from leading, locally supported brands, installed to Australian Standards
  • A hybrid or battery-ready inverter sized to your system and your network's export rules
  • A home battery from a leading, locally supported brand, sized to the solar array
  • Mounting, cabling, switchboard work within scope, and network connection paperwork
  • Monitoring app so you can see generation, usage and battery state
  • Installation by SAA-accredited installers and workmanship warranty plus manufacturer product and performance warranties
  • Every available rebate claimed for you, so they are already reflected in your quote*

You can check any installer's accreditation on the Solar Accreditation Australia site.

03

kW or kWh? The Difference That Trips Up Most Buyers

A solar system is measured in kilowatts (kW). That is how much power the panels can produce at any moment. A battery is measured in kilowatt-hours (kWh). That is how much energy it can store.

So a "10kW solar battery" search can mean a 10kW solar array, a 10kWh battery, or both. In our packages the first number is always the solar array, and the battery size is listed separately. If you only want to compare batteries, see our home battery size guide.

04

What Shapes Your Package Quote

Your quote depends on four things: the size of the solar array, the size and brand of the battery, how much electrical work your home needs, and your network's connection rules.

05

The Battery Rebate Changes on 1 January 2027

The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program gives you a discount on an eligible battery, delivered through small-scale technology certificates (STCs). Your installer claims it for you.

Since 1 May 2026 the discount is tiered. The first 14kWh of usable capacity earns the full rate, the next 14kWh earns 60% of it, and capacity above that earns 15%. The rate itself, called the STC factor, is 6.8 until the end of 2026 and drops to 5.7 on 1 January 2027, then keeps stepping down every six months to 2030.

The factor that applies is set by the date your battery is installed, not the date you sign. Solar panel STCs also reduce each January as the deeming period shortens.

If you want the 2026 rate, book your assessment soon so install lands before the end of December.

Confirm the current rules with the Clean Energy Regulator and the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water.

Which Package Is Right for Your Home?

  • How much power do you use in the evening? That is what the battery covers. Your bill shows average daily kWh.
  • Do you have, or plan to buy, an electric car or a heat pump? Both add load, and both push you up a size.
  • How much roof do you have, and which way does it face? Roof space can cap the array.
  • Is your home single-phase or three-phase? Larger systems often need three-phase or network approval.

Short answers: 6.6kW suits most 2 to 4 person homes. 10kW suits larger households and one EV. 13kW suits big homes, pools and multiple EVs. We confirm the fit from your actual bills before you commit.

How Your Package Is Installed

  • Assessment. We review your bills, roof, switchboard and network. Free, no pressure*.
  • Proposal. You get a package, a clear written quote with rebates applied, and the scope*.
  • Approval. We lodge the network application and rebate paperwork.
  • Installation. Most homes take 1 to 2 days on site.
  • Switch-on and handover. Monitoring is set up and we walk you through it.
  • Support. One team to call if anything needs attention.

Quick Size Check

Answer four short questions and the check shows the package that usually fits. It is a starting point. We confirm it against your bills before you commit to anything.

The result shows a package, a battery size and the rebate assumptions beside it. It never shows a saving or a payback figure.

QuestionOptions
How many people live in the home?1 to 2, 3 to 4, 5 or more
What is your average daily use?Under 20kWh, 20 to 35kWh, over 35kWh (your bill shows this)
Do you charge an electric car at home? No, one, two or more
Do you have a pool, ducted cooling or electric hot water?None, one, two or more

How to Compare Solar and Battery Quotes

Australian homeowners comparing two solar and battery proposals side by side
  • Usable battery capacity. Some quotes list nominal kWh. The rebate and your evening cover depend on usable kWh.
  • Inverter output in kW. It decides how much can run at once and how much the array can export.
  • Brands and models. Panels and batteries should appear on the Clean Energy Council approved product lists.
  • Rebates shown separately. The quote should state the certificate value and the certificate price it assumes.
  • Exclusions. Switchboard work, three-phase upgrades, extra cabling and scaffolding are the usual surprises.
  • Installer accreditation. Search the Solar Accreditation Australia register.
  • Warranties in writing. Product, performance and workmanship are three different warranties.
  • Installation date. For batteries the date decides the rebate factor, so ask when the install will land.

Your rights as a buyer are set out by the ACCC. We are happy to be compared line by line.

Your Network Sets the Limits

Every home connects to a local network, and that network decides the largest inverter you can fit, how much you can export and how long approval takes. In Sydney and surrounding areas that is usually Ausgrid or Endeavour Energy. Most of regional NSW is served by Essential Energy.

Rules change, so check your network's current requirements before you settle on a size, or let us do it for you.

Important Information

* Rebate details, output figures and timeframes shown are indicative estimates based on stated assumptions, not an offer, quote or guarantee. Your outcome depends on your site, roof, switchboard, network, products and the date of installation, and your written quote prevails. Savings and payback are not guaranteed. Questions

Common Questions

01What Is Included in a Solar and Battery Package?
A package bundles panels, an inverter, a battery, mounting, installation, monitoring and the paperwork for rebates and network approval. Each Frostac package lists the exact panel count, inverter and battery size so you can compare like for like.
02Is a Package Better Than Buying Separately?
It also means the inverter and battery are chosen to work together from day one.
03What Size Solar and Battery Package Do I Need?
It depends on your evening use, roof space and whether you have an EV. As a rule of thumb, 6.6kW suits most 2 to 4 person homes, 10kW suits larger households, and 13kW suits big homes with high loads. We confirm it from your bills.
04Can I Add a Battery to My Existing Solar Later?
Yes. If you already own solar, tell us in the quote form. We check whether your inverter is compatible or whether a hybrid inverter is needed.
05How Long Does Installation Take?
[1 to 2 days on site for most homes, plus network approval time.].
06Will the Battery Rebate Still Be Available Next Year?
The program continues to 2030, but the discount per kWh steps down each January and July. The rate that applies is set by your installation date.
