Batteries
Home and commercial storage, battery-ready where it makes sense.

Since 1 September 2026, NSW businesses can claim a Peak Demand Reduction Scheme incentive for commercial batteries. Pair the battery with new solar and the incentive is higher*. NSW sites only. Installed by an Accredited Certificate Provider.

The business and commercial battery activities under the NSW Energy Security Safeguard started on 1 September 2026. The incentive is delivered through Peak Reduction Certificates, which your accredited provider creates and sells, and the value comes off the project cost.
You do not apply yourself. What you do need is the right battery, the right installer and a site in NSW.

If your site sits close to a boundary, we can model both sizes. Choosing 190kWh over 210kWh can change which activity applies.
| BESS4 | BESS5 | |
|---|---|---|
| Who it is for | Small and medium business | Commercial and industrial |
| Battery size | 20kWh to 200kWh | 200kWh to 30MWh |
| Incentive covers | The eligible battery capacity | The first 10MWh of eligible capacity |
The scheme rules are set by the NSW Government and administered by IPART. Read them on the NSW Energy Sustainability Schemes site, and ask us if a rule is unclear for your site.
Solar is not mandatory, but pairing the battery with new qualifying solar earns a higher incentive rate*. It also gives the battery something to charge from, so your bill falls further.
Our commercial solar and battery design covers both parts as one project, with one set of paperwork.

The NSW incentive can generally be combined with the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program*. Federal rules differ by battery size, and the program tiers its discount, so we model both for your site. You can read the federal rules on the Clean Energy Regulator site.
Our rebates and incentives guide shows how state and federal programs fit together. Subject to eligibility and assessment.
The right size depends on your interval data, your tariff and what you need to keep running. A battery sized to your demand peaks often does more than a bigger one. Many small businesses land between 30 and 50kWh. Our 40kWh battery and 50kWh battery pages show how the federal rebate treats those sizes. For help planning the rest of the site, see commercial energy management.
We fit storage from manufacturers with local support teams, so the warranty on your battery still means something in ten years.

Brand availability depends on your system design and location. We confirm the selected equipment and manufacturer warranty in your written quote.
Incentive values are indicative and depend on your site, battery size and the current Peak Reduction Certificate price, confirmed by an accredited assessment. The NSW Peak Demand Reduction Scheme applies to eligible NSW sites only. Frostac is not a financial adviser. Scheme details are from the NSW Government and IPART, correct at the time of publishing.
* Incentives, savings and payback are indicative, depend on your site, tariff, products, scheme rules and the installer's accreditation, and are not guaranteed. Your written proposal prevails. See clauses 24.1, 24.3, 24.6 and 24.7 of the Terms and Conditions.
