13kW Solar and Battery Package

For the biggest homes and the heaviest loads. A 13kW array with a 15kWh or 20kWh battery, built for pools, ducted cooling, electric cars and a house that is rarely empty. See what is included and who it suits.

  • Around 24 to 30 panels
  • About 50kWh a day (Sydney)
  • 15 to 20kWh battery
  • Suits big homes, 2 EVs*

Who a 13kW System Suits

A 13kW system is for homes that use a lot of power and have the roof to match.

  • You use roughly 40kWh or more a day.
  • You charge one or two electric cars at home.
  • You run a pool pump and heater, ducted air conditioning, or electric hot water through the year.
  • You want to cover your own use at night as well as by day.
  • You have around 50 to 65 square metres of usable, unshaded roof.

If your use is lower, a 10kW package is often the better value, because inverter and network limits can stop a 13kW array from delivering its full output.

What Shapes a 13kW System Quote

That is a wide range because 13kW systems vary a lot with phase, roof and network requirements.

04

How Much Power Does a 13kW System Make?

In Sydney a 13kW system averages about 50kWh a day across the year*. That is enough to run a large home by day, fill a battery, charge an EV and still export. Winter output falls, so the real value is in the annual figure and in how much of it you use yourself.

Three-Phase Power and Network Approval

Three-Phase Power and Network Approval, Frostac install in Australia

Larger systems are where your supply and your network matter most. Many large homes already have three-phase power. Some do not, and upgrading is an extra item we quote at the assessment.

Your network also limits how much you can export and how large an inverter you can connect. A 13kW array on a smaller inverter is common, and the panels still earn their keep through the shoulders of the day. We sort the design around your network so there are no surprises after install. How the Rebates Apply

Solar rebate. It reduces each 1 January.

Battery rebate. The tiered structure matters most at this size. The first 14kWh of usable capacity earns the full rate, and capacity above 14kWh earns 60% of it.

That is why a 15kWh battery often gives the best rebate per dollar, and why a 20kWh battery is chosen for the capacity rather than the rebate.

07

Choosing Between a 15kWh and 20kWh Battery

If you want the larger battery but want to spread the spend, ask about a modular battery that can grow later.

08

Is 13kW Too Much? 10kW or 13kW

A larger array makes more power on cloudy days and in winter, which is when you need it. The trade-off is cost, roof space and network limits. If you have the roof, high use and an EV, 13kW is worth costing. If not, 10kW gives you most of the benefit for less.

Rule of thumb: size the array to your daytime use plus battery charging, not to the biggest your roof can hold.

Important Information

* Rebate details, output figures and timeframes shown are indicative estimates based on stated assumptions, not an offer, quote or guarantee. Questions

Common Questions

01What Affects the Quote for a 13kW System?
It depends on your home, your site and the equipment you choose, so we confirm it in a written quote after a free assessment.
02How Many Panels Is a 13kW System?
Usually 24 to 30 panels, depending on panel wattage.
03Do I Need Three-Phase Power for a 13kW System?
Often, yes, or at least a three-phase-capable inverter. We check your supply and your network's rules at the assessment.
04What Battery Should I Pair With 13kW of Solar?
Most homes choose 15kWh. Choose 20kWh for heavy overnight loads, multiple EVs or longer backup.
05Is a 13kW System Worth It?
It can be, if your use is high and your roof has the space. If your use is lower, a 10kW system often delivers most of the savings for less money*.
06Can the Battery Be Added Later?
Yes, if the inverter is battery-ready. We design the 13kW system so a battery can be added when you are ready.
